No rest for the crooked

Real Rappers

Underground hip hop is littered with “real” rappers. What makes them such? Is being a “real” rapper sample being able to tell the truth to a rhythm? Is it confessing to an embarrassing or personal event? I feel like people very often just toss the label of “real” rap around. I see it everywhere, soundcloud, youtube, facebook, basically at any place where underground hip hop heads congregate and share their thoughts and such. This post is not meant to be an answer, I just want you to think about these things a little harder.
